By the time y'all read this, I will be dead… wait, no. That’s not right. By the time y'all read this, I should have
sold Fifi. I'm supposed to go to the
dude’s house in Granbury after work to do the deal. I'm going to cut out of work early so I can
clear out anything I want to keep from the cab and bed of the truck, and then
mom and I are caravanning down. I'm not
sure if I'll send the rant to Spiderman first though. I guess it all depends on how early I cut out
of here and how long it takes to get Fifi ready to sell. We’ll see.
So, there’s that going on. John
also posted up the Mini on Craigslist and says he has some bites already. No one wants the Honduh engine with it
though, go figure. He said he has a
separate bite on that though if I'm willing to sell them individually. Um, let me think about that for a
minute. Yes! Of course I'm willing to sell them separate. Get them gone! As for the trailer, there might be a buyer
for it as well… hell’s bells; I'm having quite the “Fire Sale” this week! While on the subject, John suggested that
selling The Seven would alleviate all of my debt but I wasn’t willing to
entertain that notion at the time. Now
that everything else of value is being snatched up, I'm beginning to wonder if
the Spit could replace The Seven as my open-top little British hooning
car. If the Spit weren’t in the picture,
I wouldn’t even think about selling The Seven.
However, with it in the family, and not being worth enough to bother
selling, it is a viable option. I have
sent an e-mail to Dick Brink asking what my car, as a roller, would be
worth. We’ll see what he has to
say. I think anything over $12,000.00
might tempt me out of it. Oh sure, I'd
regret the ever living shit out of it the very second it was gone, but I have
always wanted a Spitfire… and we are the same age, sort of. Shut up, John. I know the VIN says ’64 but it was titled as
a ’65 so I'm going with that.
Lalalalalalala, I can't hear you, lalalalalalala! Besides, the Spit SHOULD be more comfortable
and will be much easier to get into and out of.
These things are getting increasingly important to my rapidly
decrepitizing old ass. I don’t know;
I’ll have to cipher and figger on that some more. For what it is worth, John is on board with
replacing The Seven with the Spit… well, at least he isn’t against the
idea. The biggest problem with the Spit
is the “Whiskey Dent” in the right rear quarter. The passenger door is no big deal, we’ll just
pop it off and put a different one in its place, but the actual quarter is
pretty “stoved in.” Victoria British
does sell replacement panels, and they aren’t terribly expensive if I remember
correctly, but getting one installed might be prohibitive. The B-post is $150.00, and the rear quarter
lower front is $55.00, I just looked them up.
A whole rear wing is $415.00 and a boot lid is $875.00 though! Having just looked at the pictures of my car,
the quarter isn’t so bad that “kicking it out” is out of the question. Besides, it is on the opposite side from what
I would see all the time so it doesn’t have to be perfect! Oh, the reason I priced a boot lid is the
massive amount of rust in trailing edge of mine. I'm sure we can find an used one along with a
door. Feh, I really shouldn’t be talking
myself into this just yet. I'll discuss
it with various parties and come to a decision next week on that part of the
DLR Fire Sale. Well, it is rapidly
approaching 1500 h so I might start wrapping up so I can get out of here in the
next half hour or so. Yes, that is exactly
what I'm going to do. Toodles.
