6/13/14

I have a confession to make.  The Spice Girls story the other day didn’t really happen the way I wrote it.  Yes, I was listening to the playlist as described.  Yes, Yaz’s dark and brooding song “And On” ended and the Spice Girls’ up-beat saccharine pop hit “Wannabe” was the next song up.  Yes, I had the volume up… but so were the windows, and I was on the freeway doing 75 or 80… I mean 60 miles per hour.  I thought at the time, “Gee, that would have been embarrassing had it gone down in a way to be described in a rant a few days hence,” or something to that effect.  I thought about doing a FaceSpace post about it but couldn’t remember my FaceSpace password.  I thought I might… um, what is that Twit thing people do?  Well, suffices to say I don’t do the Tweeter thing, so that was out.  I had to resort to the old rant and have Spiderman post it up on them intergoogles for me.  So, there you have it.  I just realized this is Friday and I haven’t heard from the guy in Houston about the gun trade… I also haven’t heard from anyone else about it so I guess I am about to send him his one e-mail to see if he’s still interested.  Hang on, I’ll be right back.  E-mail sent, now we wait for his reply.  Part of me hopes he was scared off by the amateur gunsmithery and/or my wanting to meet halfway because I really don’t need either one of the guns he has to offer… and I know John doesn’t want to make a jaunt across Texas tomorrow  when we could be working on our cars.  Oh, and there’s the fact that the Siaga 12 Kushnapup is really bad ass!  But I made an offer and I intend to stand by it.  I try to be a “standup guy” from time to time.  Speaking of “standup guys,” I really want Mike Holmes to come down from Canadia and fix up my house!  If you’ve never seen one of his shows on HGTV or whatever home improvement channel he’s on, it is truly amazing the things he does for people.  For that matter, I’d like for him to come down and build me a shop/apartment in Boyd.  Ok, what I’d really like is for him to send his daughter down to build/renovate for me but… well, never mind.  Speaking of the shop/apartment in Boyd, with the culling of my herd by a significant amount, I can see that a much smaller building would work out fairly well for me.  I have pretty much abandoned the idea of anything over 60’ long.  In fact, the 40’x60’ layout I have drawn up in Paint elsewhere on this laptop (which I might try to send to Spiderman to show y’all) is beginning to look pretty good to me.  I’m sure the apartment would not turn out exactly as I have it drawn even though I tried to incorporate HVAC and plumbing considerations… not to mention the room dimensions might not be feasible.  Oh well, it is just a jumping-off point for a design.  Ok, so I have been away from the desk for lunch and stuff and have heard back from the dude in Houston.  He is still interested in trading the 870 and AR lower for the K’pup S12.  I have relayed the information that Buffalo, Texas is about halfway and that there is a Dairy Queen at the intersection of I-45 and Hwy 79.  Now he wants to meet tonight!  Yikes!  I said I couldn’t get on the road until 1800 h which would put us in Buffalo around 2000 h and home again after 2200 h.  I have serious doubts that John will be willing/able to do that.  I could go without backup, I suppose.  Something’s going to kill me someday anyway.  I don’t know.  I’ll wait to see what John has to say about going tonight… knowing full well it will be “No,” and make a decision later.  Although, it is now 1510 h and there is nothing going on at work.  I suppose I could cut out, go home, round everything up, and head south well before 1800 h.  I do need to reinstall the flip-up “iron” sights on the gun as well.  Well, John has just replied and is checking to see if this evening is a possibility.  I think I am going to call it a week and head home to make everything ready.  Perhaps we’ll be on the road before 1800 h and back at a decent time.  Whish me luck!
