And we’re back from Mammorial Day. Why
we have a day for that, I’ll never know… but sure don’t mind taking off work
for it! Anyhoo, I noticed something
yesterday, I think my cat is “Left Hand Drive.”
Here’s what I mean, since we drive on the right side of the road because
our cars are LHD, we also tend to stay to the right hand side of hallways and
sidewalks and such. When someone
approaches and fails to yield in order to pass on the right, we wind up doing
that “dance” with them where each tries to shift to the opposite side and pass
by. Well, yesterday I came nose to nose,
so to speak since it was more nose to toe in actuality, with the cat and while
she had plenty of room to dart past me on my right, she went to her right
instead. I even tried to give way the
wrong way so she’d have even more room to my right to pass but she insisted on
going to the other side. Hang on, the
import of her doing so is getting lost here.
As we approached each other, she was to my right and had she just kept true,
would have passed on my right… but she didn’t!
She jinked to her right to pass on the correct side. That’s sort of what I’m trying to get across. Anyhoo, John and I went to the shop Saturday
and got… well, a tiny amount of stuff done.
His back was hurting and I didn’t give a shit about working on
cars. I terminated a couple wires under
the hood of Lil’Wiggly and welded something for him on his car. I’m sure we did other stuff but can’t be
bothered to finger out what right now.
After we’d finished doing what little we were going to do, we headed to…
um, lunch at… um, the place where they have, y’know, like food… type…
stuff. WHERE THE FUCK DID WE HAVE
LUNCH? I can’t remember. Hang on, I’ll think of it. Oh!
Schlotzsky’s! We went to
Schlotzsky’s where we discovered that we both order the same sandwich, “Regular
Original on Chocolate Cake”… I mean, “Dark Rye.” We did go different directions on chips
though. I like the vinegar and water… I
mean salt and vinegar, whereas he went with sour cream and onion. I also had the Cinnabon “Cup ‘o Centers” or
whatever they call that diabetes inducing concoction of cinnamon bun centers
drizzled with extra sugar syrup stuff… in a cup. After that we parted company and I went home
to take a nap. Sunday morning I went to
the gun show. Larry was home taking care
of his mom who had surgery last week and couldn’t join me. I flew solo.
I took the 90/22 with me to see if a) it would fit in the little
backpack thingy that a Ruger 10/22 Takedown rifle comes in, or 2) if someone
would be willing to pay $1,500.00 for it.
Short version, no… to both. The
gun would fit in the backpack but the barrel would protrude. This put the kibosh on me buying a 10/22
Takedown for now… well, and the fact that I don’t have $350.00 for one. Mom called as I was putting the gun in the
trunk in preparation of going back into the show and it was decided that I
would skip the afternoon at the show and come have lunch with her. We went to Papadeaux’s. It was quite the tasty. Monday I decided I was going to take my carry
weapon to the range and make sure I could still hit things with it. Unfortunately the range was closed so I wound
up going for a hoon and then wasting the rest of the day. Yesterday, back here at work, I started this very
rant you are reading but got bogged down in some heated ranting about computer
assholes and how I wish them to die in flaming car crashes… but then decided it
sounded too much like a threatening manifesto type thing. I wouldn’t want anyone questioning my mental
capacity and having all my gun rights revoked.
So there you have it. I guess I
might have more to say tomorrow or Friday… but I might not either. We’ll see.
