6/17/10

And Cabela’s was a waste of time too. The only thing they had in .45 Colt, other than a used Taurus pump-action, was a Henry Rifle. In case you don't know, Henry rifles are very expensive. In fact, the guns at Elk Castle must have been Henrys as well. The long and the short of it is, I'm not paying $1,000.00 for a gun. As for the Taurus, I'm not against a pump-action, I want a carbine length gun, not a gun the length of a Tatooine Womp Rat. Of course the Taurus does hold fifteen rounds whereas the carbine will only hold around ten. Of course I also made the mistake of comparing ammo prices. 7.62x39 ammo for the AK-47 is about $0.20 per bullet compared to anywhere from $0.60 to $2.75 per bullet for .45 Colt. I could get an AK-47 and 1,000 rounds of 7.62x39 for about the same money as the lever-action and 250 rounds of .45 Colt. It’s kind of hard to argue with that. Of course I have wanted a lever-action longer than I've wanted an AK, and I already have one .45 Colt gun. I don't need to go getting myself into yet another caliber just yet. Oh, I know it’ll happen sooner or later, but not right now. So, I guess I'm going to wait for the gun show and see about finally buying the gun from the Travel Agents. That is unless I find something at Winchester Gallery or buckle and buy the large-hoop gun at Blood Bath & Beyond. I fought the urge to go look at it again yesterday. I might have a peek at it today though. Larry thinks the one at BB&B is shorter than the one the Travel Agents had. I don't think so, but I could be wrong. Oh, I'm not sure whether or not I mentioned this, but I think I've talked myself out of the 3” chambered Magnum Judge. I had a look at my 2.5” ammo and there is quite the stockpile on hand. Besides, many ammo manufacturers are embracing the 2.5” Judge and making “Self Defense” rounds of 000 buckshot in .410 gauge. In fact, most of my stockpile is Federal 000 buckshot SD ammo. Winchester even has a round with three plated discs of about 0.45” diameter followed by twelve pellets of BB shot. I may have to get some of that. Psh, who am I kidding? I AM going to get some of that! So, like I said, I think I'm going to stick with the 2.5” Judge and wait for the gun show to get me a lever gun. OK, I've got to go pee and it is already 1500 h so I'm calling it a rant.
