I realized while re-reading the rant this morning that I left a few things hanging. First off, I said I awoke dreading the headlight issue. Let me backtrack a little. What started the whole fiasco of Lil' Wiggly being down right now was the fact that the high beams didn’t work when I tried to get the car inspected last year. What I did was to wire them to a relay so that the headlights, and park lights for that matter, are on whenever the ignition is on. I then wired in another relay for the high beams. Well, when we tried to start the car on the 19th they did not light up as they should. This was what I was sweating. So last Saturday, while John was piddling with something, I had a quick look round the wiring for the lights. I found that the ground for the main relay was disconnected. I hooked that up and gave the key a try. Huzzah! The lights worked again. I didn’t try the high beams because the switch for them wasn’t hooked up. I'm sure they will work and if not, they won't be any great shakes to fix. The other thing I forgot to mention was just how I felt after hearing the thing run. Remember last… what was it, Wednesday? Yes, remember last Wednesday when I said I had decided that as soon as it was back on the road it would go up for sale? Yeah, not so much. I'll finger out a way to keep it in the stable for a while after all. John was pussyfooting around the subject for fear of hurting my feelings. Finally he pointed right at the 800lb gorilla in the corner and said something to the effect of, “The car won't bring enough to make it worth our while to sell it.” I, of course, knew that going in but wasn’t willing to let myself believe it fully. Having heard the thing run now, it is worth so much more to me now than before. I think I'm going to reapply the giant Hello Kitty decal to the hood. Hmm, maybe repaint the center “stripe” of the car white around the Hello Kitty decal and paint the rest of the car pink? With that engine in there it otter be able to pull off that paint scheme. Ok, maybe not a true pink, maybe a “light red.” I made myself laugh with that one. I may have to do it just so I can say, “This car is NOT pink. It is light red.” No, it’ll stay white… but I do think I will put the decal back on there. I need to order some more AK-47 Hello Kitties in pink to go on there as well. I suppose a black AK-47 Hello Kitty would be alright on the hatch. I think that might become the de facto symbol of Dimlight Racing. John’s B-210 and Bobbi both have AK-47 Hello Kitty decals on them already. I suppose I should have put one of those on Fiona instead of the regular Hello Kitty head… but I didn’t… so there. I need to put one on The Seven now that I think about it. Oh man, it is going to be butt assed butt butt cold driving The Seven to the car show on Sunday. I am not looking forward to that. I'd say something about maybe I could have Lil' Wiggly ready but that ain’t happening either. Besides, Lil' Wiggly doesn’t have a heater anymore so it wouldn’t be that much better than The Seven anyway. I need to block off those vents from the scuttle for the winter I guess. No, I need to install those shutoff valve thingies over them so they can be opened and closed as needed. The big question is whether or not I'm going to try and plumb some of those Mustang vent registers into the dash. It all depends on how much room there is behind the dash versus how much room the registers require I guess. We’ll see. Ok, so I was thinking about that “light red” and white paint scheme just now. I think the thing that is making me not want it is that it would be so much “light red.” So now I'm thinking “light red” on the nose back to the Hello Kitty decal, that on a white stripe running across the hood and diagonally back down the fenders, with a similar white stripe at the rear of the roof running similarly down the “C” pillars and rear fenders, and “light red” in between and at the ass-end of the car. No, that would be too much like a candy cane now that I think about it. Hmm, I need a good picture of the side and top of a B-210 to play with. I did this with the Chickenhawk back in the day but wound up with the two-tone yellow over black scheme somehow. John, think you can find a line drawing of the side and top of a B-210 hatch somewhere on them intergoogles of yours? I tried to look for one just now but you know me and them intergoogle searches. We don’t get along, you see. I do not have the patience to wade through all the useless crap out there to find what I'm looking for. I suppose I could take a picture with my phone, print it out somehow, trace a line drawing of my own off of it, and make copies of that. I think that is what I did with the Chickenhawk now that I think about it. I wonder what happened to all of those drawings I colored when thinking about a paint scheme for that car. I'm sure I've got them somewhere in my room since I never throw anything away. Well, I guess I've rambled on long enough for one day. Hopefully I'll think of something to talk about tomorrow. Toodles.
