That last bit, where I bitched and moaned about the new word processor was written Friday but I had to send it to Spiderman today as a cut and paste sort of thing since the format this thing stores stuff as is totally incompatible with John’s machine… or something.  Anyhoo, here we are on Monday at 1510 h and I’m just now getting started on another one.  So, here’s what we did over the weekend.  Saturday morning I met John at the shop around 0600 h so we could traipse across Texas to pick up that engine.  We rolled through the McDonald’s drive through and then headed south.  To make a short story long, we drove to the dude’s house, installed the choke cable John traded him for the engine, loaded the engine in the back of the car, and headed north again.  We stopped in Austin for some mediocre bait at a place called Ninny’s or something like that.  It was “meh” at best… and not even “Meh,” but “meh,” if you catch what I’m saying.  From there we headed north again and stopped in West for kolaches… as one does.  We finally arrived at the shop and unloaded the engine.  I was fairly whupped but took a long hoon home anyway… because I’m dumb that way.  Sunday I met Larry at the credit onion so we could go to the gun show.  I pulled $300.00 out to have some “Walkin’ Around Money” on me and waited for him to arrive.  We headed to the convention center, parked, and went in.  My plan was to look at those 25 round Ruger magazines for the 90/22, but I wasn’t sure I was going to get any.  See, I bought that grenade pouch for the stacked 10 round magazines and found that they worked pretty well without the rubber dust covers… rendering said covers superfluous.  My thought was that I would buy a couple banana mags and use the covers on them… and then I would have some 25 round magazines too!  I was also shopping for a Walther PK380 because they are kinda cool and I’m dumb.  What I wasn’t shopping for, originally, was another 10/22… until i saw one of those “takedown” models, the one which splits into two parts for storage.  I think I really want one of those.  I stopped looking at the Walthers and began shopping in earnest for the 10/22 takedown.  Eventually I found the gun I really wanted, a 10/22 takedown, in stainless steel, with black furniture, a threaded barrel, and fiber optic sights.  Unfortunately, it was about $70.00 more than the basic takedown version.  I hemmed and hawed about it the rest of the show.  “I really don’t need to buy that gun,” I kept saying.  “But I really really want it!”  Eventually I found a place offering the banana mags for $27.00 a piece or four for $100.00... and they also had the 19 round magazines for the Pimp Gun!  I asked the dude if he would take $100.00 for the three he had marked $34.95 each.  He agreed when he saw I was also buying $100.00 worth of Ruger mags.  Larry bought some ammo so we took everything to the truck and I decided to sit down while he went back for even more ammo.  He is wisely buying up any and all of that Russian 5.45x39 ammo which has been banned from importation while it is still available.  I stewed over whether or not I was going back in to buy that 10/22 takedown but eventually decided to be a good boy and refrained.  And that gets y’all caught up on my life, I believe.  So there.
