I decided this morning that I would take the Sarsilmaz SAR K2 .45 ACP pistol
with me to Bloodbath & Beyond to see what they would offer as partial trade
on the Pimp Gun. I don’t really want to
trade it but it was the only way I could think of to get the layaway price down
so I could get the gun this week. See,
tomorrow is NOT payday after all so I was going to have to wait until next week
to pick up the thing. Unfortunately,
that would mean missing out on the 10% discount they are offering this week
before they move to their new store. I
don’t want to miss out on taking… I was going to give the amount but then some
savvy mathlete would finger out what that was ten percent of and realize just
what a dumbass I really am. So I'm just
going to say, “I don’t want to miss out on taking 10% off the thing” and leave
it at that. Ok, where was I? Right, I was thinking I'd go in, as Mike
Brewer of “Wheeler Dealers” would say, “with me size tens on” and ask $450.00
for the SARK. I'd thought, originally, that
if they offered me $250.00 for it I would take it, but then I had a look at the
balance on some of my credit cards. I
can do it, without losing the SARK, on the Unity One card so I'm not going to
let them screw me on the SARK. I'm not
sure how low I'll accept, but suffices to say it won't be under $350.00…
probably. We’ll see. Uh oh!
Bomber command is requesting an immediate dust off to fly a mission over
the Dresden Porcelain works. Gotta
fly! And the Hun’s ability to make
bathroom fittings is once again thwarted by the boys of the bomber wing… or
some such nonsense. Anyhoo, I guess I'll
mention that John and I are tentatively planning to go to the Pate Swap Meet
Saturday so I can buy a wiring harness for the Chickenhawk. I'm to pick him up at the Mazda dealer from
whence we shall roll north to the speedway.
If we were smart we’d only look at stuff as we seek out the wiring guy,
buy the harness, and then go to the shop to put the radiator in Lil' Wiggly…
but I'm not sure we’re that smart. I'd
like to rent one of the little mobility scooters they have to give my
osteo-arthritic knees some relief from all the walking… but I'm not sure I'm
that smart. We don’t really need to walk
the whole thing because there won't be that guy with a table full of Datsun
parts waiting around the next bend willing to just give the stuff away to get
it out of his garage. He’s never been at
any of the swap meets I've ever attended.
He won't be at this one either. I
don’t know, we’ll see. Oh, speaking of
the Chickenhawk, did I mention that I'm giving some thought to going with a DGV
carburetor instead of a DCOE so’s that I can put a thirty-horsepower shot wet
nitrous nozzle in the adapter plate? By
my admittedly sketchy math, a 30 shot would give the Chickenhawk a similar
power to weight ratio to Fiona. Methinks
I could live with that! It is still in
the cipherin’ and figgerin’ stage right now and John may well talk me out of it
before anything happens. A DCOE would be
sexier, but a DGV would be cheaper. Plus
there’s the “Naaaaaawwwsssss!” angle, of course… which would negate the savings
but make the car so much quicker. Hmm,
more discussion is definitely in order.
Well, I've got to go help some folks get set up for a meeting so I guess
we’ll call this one a rant. Have a day.
