Well, of all the long weekends I've ever had, that was one of them. Friday I didn’t really accomplish
anything. I hung out with mom most of
the day doing… I don’t know, stuff.
Eventually, around 1630 h or so, I decided I'd had enough lounging around
the house and took The Seven out for a hoon.
It was quite nice. The car ran
really well and if I “flogged it” just a wee bit when it did its bog thing, it
cleared its little throat and took off.
I really like that car. Saturday
I helped mom with a luncheon at the church and then wasted the afternoon and
evening. Sunday I went to church because
it was Easter and I want to keep living where I am rent-free. At some point in the afternoon I decided I
wanted to go gun shopping. Yes, I am
dumb. We’ve been over that. I took off in Fiona and went for a long hoon
before winding up at Academy. They
didn’t have a Taurus PT92 or a Walther PK380, the two guns for which I was “shopping.” I really didn’t have any intention to buy
one, I just wanted to go shopping.
Monday I came to the railroad and tested the War Room phone, as I do
every morning, at 0730 h and then hung out to give the phone and keys to the
guy who covers for me when I'm off. From
there I went to the guy who had welded the upper hose pipe onto the aluminum
radiator for Lil' Wiggly and asked if he would weld on the lower. He said he would and I could pick it up after
1400 h. Then I went to the dentist. After the dentist I went to my doctor’s
appointment and was told to lose weight… and have a finger stuck up my
butt. They start doing that when you
turn forty apparently. When I was done
there, I met mom at the church and we went to lunch at Lily’s on Magnolia. After dropping mom back at the church, I went
home to get an insurance card for The Seven and then went to the county
courthouse to renew the license plates.
That took almost an hour. When I
was done there I picked up my radiator and wondered what I could do for an hour
until time to go back to the railroad to get the phone and keys from
Jason. “I know,” thought I, “Bloodbath
& Beyond!” I went there to look
for/at the Walter and Taurus pistols Academy didn’t have Sunday. BB&B did have them. The Walther was cool and all but the Taurus
was “monogrammed.” Ok, it wasn’t really
but the first three digits of the serial number were my initials, “TGW.” “Crap,” I said. “I'm going to have to buy this.” I told the evil sales guy, the same one who
convinced me to buy a Tavor and… um, something else I'm sure, that I'd wait
until Friday, payday, and if it wasn’t there, it wasn’t meant to be. He suggested layaway to guarantee it would be
there on payday. Silver tongue
bastard. Once that “logic,” such that it
was, was used on me, I was lost. I put
down an deposit and then went shopping for other stuff I “needed.” Fortunately I didn’t find anything else and
went home. Now I'm sitting here at work,
killing the last few minutes of the day, telling y'all all about it. And with that I think I'm going to call it an
rant. Have an day.
