Calling the CBRPS Bullpup stock for the Mosin Nagant a piece of shit would be
an insult… to SHIT! I know that is an
old joke, but hell’s bells if it ain’t true in this case. First off, half of the parts are that dense
fiberboard material, something like “melamine” I think it’s called, with a
smattering of thin ABS plastic, and the balance aluminum. Secondly, most of the screws screwed INTO
threads in the “melamine” parts so there is no way to tighten them sufficiently. Thirdly, nothing fit or lined up properly…
ok, that might not be fair, SOME things lined up, but not enough things to make
the thing work. And finally, the
“instructions” were so cryptic and obfuscated that… hell, I don’t even know to
what I could compare them! Then, if you
did manage to assemble the thing, the bolt hits you in the shoulder when
cycling the action so there is no way to stay on target for a follow up
shot. And the butt pad area is woefully
small for a full-power rifle round like 7.26x54r! I came so close to packing it back into the
box in which it came, writing “Calling this a piece of shit would be an insult
to shit!” on the “instructions,” and sending it right back to the
manufacturer. I was so pissed off that I
wasn’t even going to ask for my money back, just leave him with the
passive-aggressive jab of “I hope you can sleep at night, you blackguard
charlatan snake-oil salesman.” It does
look cool though, so I'm going to take it to the shop Saturday and force-fit
everything. I'm not sure I'll ever try
to fire it though. I'm not sure it will
actually withstand the recoil. Of
course, it does look cool. I'll probably
finish it out and drag it to the next gun show to try and offload it on some
poor sucker. Then again, it does look
cool, I might keep it. Yeah, I'll put a
$600.00 price tag on it, which is about a $150.00 loss before ammo, but plan on
keeping it when no one goes for that amount because, say it with me, it does
look cool. We’ll see. In other news, I believe John has my trailer
sold. Juan could look at it as a $600.00
loss… or we could consider that I got $600.00+ usage over the course of the
last fifteen years. Yeah, six Benjamins
in hand and six bones worth of use… I think I can live with that logic. Besides, it was too small and too heavy. When I go to replace it one day, I'll get a
nice aluminum one with a tad more length… or not, as the case may be. In “But, didn’t you just sell one of those?”
news, I was watching “Wheeler Dealers” on Velocity last night and they were
doing a Mini. I have decided that I AM
going to have a Mini in the near future but the next one will be a runner, not
a project. John has already found a few
on e-Bay UK and we finger $3,000.00 to $3,500.00 to buy it plus another $2,000.00
to get it over here and licensed puts us in one reasonably cheap. Oh, did I mention I really want right hand
drive? Well, I do. So there.
Crap, there is one on Craigslist in Oklahomo for $4,500.00, RHD, runs
but needs front sheet metal. Crap, crap,
crapity, crap, crap! I'd be a monumental
dumbass to… I'm not even going to finish that because we all know I AM a
monumental dumbass. I'm going to try and
forget about that and wait for the right one to come along. Yes, that is the smart thing to do. Well, I think I'm just about chatted out for
today so I'm going to call it a rant and go do something else.
